How to get a Job with no Experience or Degree

We have given you detailed steps on how to get a job with no experience or degree. The truth remains the fact that you need experience to get a job, but you also need a job to acquire experience. This still brings us back to the question “How to get a job with no experience” To be honest, it’s very discouraging to get rejected on your first job application as a new graduate with no experience.

Human Resource departments have a way of protecting their companies by keeping out unqualified candidates. Unfortunately, they’re also driving away great talents who would have been of great benefit to their company. I have experienced this countless times even though I have a first-class degree with honors from a top university.

How I found a Job with no Experience

I graduated in 2014, and by that time, some of my mates were already working. I searched for jobs online and also submitted applications both physically and online. It was difficult to find a good job without having experience in that field. Only a few companies advertised for entry-level jobs where experience isn’t needed. My mom would tell me “Mathew, just board the train no matter what whether it is an AC coach or a 3rd class coach the only thing that matters is to reach your destination”

As a fresh graduate with a degree in business management, I never thought I would find myself in this predicament. I had always been told that getting a job with no experience was near impossible, especially in the competitive corporate world. But here I was, standing in front of the grandiose building of one of the most prestigious companies in the city, about to interview for a job that required years of experience.

I took a deep breath and reminded myself of the plan I had meticulously crafted. It was a long shot, but I had nothing to lose. I had spent countless hours researching the company and the job role, trying to understand the ins and outs of the business. I knew that I didn’t have the experience they were looking for, but I was determined to prove that I was the best candidate for the job.

As I sat in the waiting room, I could feel my heart pounding against my chest. I was nervous, but I refused to let it show. I had to remain calm and confident, just like I had practiced. Finally, it was my turn. I walked into the interview room and met with the panel of stern-looking executives.

I could feel their skepticism as soon as I mentioned my lack of experience. But I didn’t let that deter me. I confidently laid out my plan, showcasing my knowledge of the company and how I could contribute to its growth. The interviewers were impressed, and I could see a flicker of interest in their eyes.

They asked me to come back for a second round of interviews, where I was given various tasks and challenges to test my skills. And to my surprise, I excelled in every one of them. A few days later, I received a call from the company offering me the job. I couldn’t believe it. I had done the impossible.

How to get a Job with no Experience

There are two methods of solving the issue of experience before employment as a new graduate:

  1. By seeking companies who are willing to train entry-level graduates with no experience. When you find entry-level jobs, all you need to do is just apply.
  2. By taking some marginal jobs in areas relevant to your desired job role.  By doing this job, you’ll surely gain the experience you so desire. For example, if you desire to work in an auto mechanic company, you can become an apprentice in a mechanic workshop to gain relevant experience.

Important Helpful Hints on How to Get a Job with No Experience

Honestly, this is one of the best ways to quickly gain experience before applying for any job that requires you to have years of experience.  I’ll advise you to leave your ego and seek experience somewhere you have to pay little sacrifice to gain the much-needed experience.

Don’t try to hide the fact that you have no experience during the job application. Always try to gain a little experience even if it means paying to gain that required experience.

You have to lay focus on your strength, attitude towards work, your way of thinking, and your personality sometimes helps you secure a job whether experience is needed or not.

You have to improve on your skills, don’t be stagnant, always go for new skills, and do some internships to gain experience. Your skills sometimes convince employers to employ you without any experience.

Your connection in relevant industries paves the way for you. If someone notable can recommend you for being honest, then no one will ask if you have experience or not.

Don’t stop applying for jobs and going for interviews. If you don’t stop, you will have a better chance of getting hired.

Keep learning every day. The more knowledgeable you are, the more your chances of getting hired.
